History Holds Hands Uganda
Beatrice Höfler has been involved with 'Vision for Africa' for years and has repeatedly engaged in Uganda. In 2015, she met Jumba Paul, the founder of Hold Hands Uganda. Bea's vision is to provide a better future for children through this project and to share God's love. She and her team work entirely voluntarily and cover all costs themselves.
01
2015 - Start
In 2015, the project began in Jinja, Buikwe District. The first preschool building was erected on the 2-hectare family estate, financed by the profits from Jumba Paul's family pottery.
02
2017 - Bea and Jacqueline
Bea Höfler and her sister Jacqueline Böslau began supporting the project. At that time, 2 teachers were teaching 54 students without any inventory, school materials, or sanitary facilities. With support from Germany, sponsorships were arranged, and the project's development was advanced.
03
2018 - School extensions & well
The school buildings were expanded, a new playground was built, and a 24-meter deep well was constructed. The well is accessible to all villagers, significantly improving the situation and supply in the village and the school.
04
2019 - Advances
The facilities were expanded to include a school kitchen, sanitary rooms, storage houses, drainage systems, and a protective wall.
05
2020 - Support Services
2020 was a challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team sent care packages and supported as best as they could from Germany. Despite this situation, the construction of a dining hall and a teacher's house was started, and a chicken coop was completed.
06
2021 - let's continue
In 2021, a new 10,000-liter water tank was installed, and the teacher's house was completed. Additionally, a pigsty was built to improve the school's self-sufficiency. During the lockdowns, care packages were continuously distributed.
07
2022 - here we go again
In 2022, the school resumed after the lockdown, and a master plan for future investments was developed and implemented. A new school building with an upper floor, a drainage system, and livestock breeding were invested in. Additionally, the school received a government award. For Christmas, all the children received blankets.
08
2023 - We are looking forward to the new year
In February 2023, new school rooms were opened, allowing education up to the 7th grade. Additionally, new sanitary facilities and playground equipment were acquired for the children.
Our goal with Hold Hands Uganda
We want to contribute to helping the children in Uganda and allocate part of our resources to the needy.
09
2024 - Boarding House
In 2024, a boarding house will be built for the children. Additionally, the small farm will be expanded to provide more practical learning opportunities for the children and to improve self-sufficiency.
